Richard Grant began his woodworking business as a reactionary movement against the unsustainable
practice of fast furniture culture and the lack of functional art in society. Through his work, he called for a reclamation of the philosophy of earlier historical periods, in which the human eye and hand set the relationship between the person's being and the universe around it.
Richard was born as a congenital amputee in Austin, Texas. This has led him to be instilled with the ability to overcome obstacles with a unique approach. This ability permeates into our building process, and is reflected in each piece. New challenges pave the way for new woodworking
knowledge for the differently abled with an outside-the-box approach.
From an early age, Richard understood the idea that it is okay to be different. Uniqueness is what separates us from the universe, and trees are no exception. Materials like wood deserve to be understood and respected, so our products retain the same individuality as the boards that it came from.
